| Train
enterprenueurs on tracebility and documents development
on food and animal products for market access by June
2008 - FOOD DIVISION.
TIRDO develop and implement traceability programmes or solutions in the food supply chains. The business community of Tanzania is already confronted with the need to build a comprehensive traceability system as a precondition for “MARKET ACCESS”. As a result of this the business community needs to build awareness on this issue and to be provided with information to enable them to make the right business decisions.
Traceability simply can be defined as “the ability to trace the history” (ISO 8202). However here we mean, the ability to systematically monitor food products in both a quantitative and qualitative manner within space and time. This is usually done for purposes of managing agriculture and food production, inventory, logistics, distribution, quality, safety, product recalls and withdrawals and compliance with legislation. |

TIRDO managed to construct 15 modern tobacco bans in Songea and Namtumbo Districts of Ruvuma Region. Tobacco farmers in Mbinga Districts were motivated in using modern bans. The research conducted has shown that use of firewood has been reduced by 40-50 percent, as a result of using these modern buns. Modern buns are also safer and healthy i.e. in tradition buns you have to get in buns and there is a lot of smoke, which is dangerous for the human health while in modern ones everything is controlled from outside.132 farmers were trained in this modern technology. |
