TIRDO is Organization under the Ministry of Industry Trade and Marketing charged with responsibility of carrying out applied research and provision of technical services to industries. The core areas are

TIRDO Functions:

To promote industrial development in Tanzania through applied research heading to the evolution and development of local materials to be used in industrial process.
To research into the local and foreign industrial techniques and technologies for adoption and use in industrial production.
To promote and provide facilities for training personnel for carrying out applied scientific and industrial research.
To operate a documentation system to disseminate information on applied research.
To provide technical services for industrial development.
To provide technical capacity to mitigate industrial pollution.
